Fraser Coast

Maryborough and Hervey Bay are the key city centres in Queensland's famous Fraser Coast region - one of the state's most attractive holiday destinations. Hervey Bay attracts over one million visitors each year and is one of the major mainland access points to the world-famous Fraser Island. The city has become a significant regional business centre, and focuses on clean, low-impact industries, including:

  • tourism
  • retail trade
  • aviation and marine manufacturing

Maryborough supports a range of industries reflective of the region's natural resources, and has been developed primarily as a centre for engineering, timber and sugar-processing. The following industries are also large contributors to the local economy:

  • agriculture, forestry and fishing
  • manufacturing and construction
  • property and business services

The Fraser Coast region looks forward to a strong future as one of Queensland's most well-known and prosperous centres. Continued population growth is expected for the region, which will drive industry growth and economic strength, while supporting the enviable lifestyle currently enjoyed by residents and tourists.
